An island-hotel

Yusron, 29 May 2008

An island-hotel (tourist resort island) is a hotel complex located on an island. There are several concepts of islands-hotel, but the term means more particularly a hotel being the sole, exclusive on the island (or, an island that harbours no more than a hotel). These islands are often found in the tropics and hotels are generally present the highest quality. They propose a number of activities both water and land. The hotel concept is very common in the Seychelles or the Maldives. It is for example the island of Halaveli in North Ari atoll of the Maldives.

Club Holiday

A resort town (also called “vacation club” or “vacation village”) is a hotel complex with the type of housing differs somewhat from hotels classics. Accommodation is often a bungalow or cottage. It offers activities substantially identical and sometimes practised in common. In this sense, clubs and Med Center Parcs can be considered as resorts.

City-station
Although no (or little) french used in this sense, resort can also be used to designate a tourist resort as a whole, with all activities that are proposed. This is the case with ski resorts (ski resorts), where the term refers to the station as a whole, including the ski area all winter activities proposed and the “after-ski” (bar, bowling, discotheque, animations …). It may also include a spa (spa resort) or a seaside resort (seaside resort).
